Norwich is a fantastically unique English city, rich in history and culture. The most complete medieval city in England, Norwich is just a short car journey from some of the most beautiful beaches England has to offer.
Whether you’re visiting family, in Norwich for work or taking a holiday break, here are a few places you should take some time out to explore while you’re in the area:
Holkham Hall
This twenty-five thousand-acre estate boasts an 18th-century country house, just next to the village of Holkham in the north of Norfolk. Constructed by the first Earl of Leicester it is now host to a number of attractions and events. Head there for shopping, walks, food and drinks or Christmas fun- around 36 miles from Norwich.
Wells-next-the-sea
Recognised for its beautifully charming rainbow coloured beach huts, Wells-next-the-sea is an ideal spot for a short getaway. A historic seaside resort, Wells-next-the-sea is a hotspot for bird watching, family fun and watersports.
Soak up the sun on its wide sandy beach, take a stroll around its pine woods, or enjoy an ice cream in the delightful, traditional harbour town. Just over an hour’s drive from Norwich, it’s certainly worth a visit.
Horsey Beach & Blakeney Point
Winter is the season for seal pups, and in Norfolk, you can spot them from either Horsey Beach or Blakeney Point between November and February.
Blakeney Point is a three-mile shingle and sand strand on the North of the Norfolk coast. It will take you about an hour to get there from Norwich, but is well worth the journey if you want to see seals in their natural habitat.
Horsey Beach is an equally beautiful location to spot seals. Wonderfully quiet, this white sand beach is great to visit all year round; and is just a forty-five-minute road trip from Norwich.
Norfolk Broads
A network of rivers, lakes, marshland fields and countryside, Norfolk Broads are lovely to explore in the winter months. With stunning scenery, the Norfolk Broads give you the perfect opportunity to get close to nature and enjoy the great outdoors.
Stop by for a breath of fresh air, drop into the riverside cafe, go bird spotting or take a boat trip.
